Hiiiiiiiiiii everybodyyyyyyyy, it's me again!!! :D

This week our Friday collaboration theme is simply "blue", so let's get right on with it!

I chose to do a bit of stampy stampy over a blue base for my manicure, product info after the pics:

Blue: Freckles Polish "Drew Peacock" (teehee!);
Stamping: S.H.C. Polish Shade 28 & MoYou London Sailor plate 05.

Mama Bean chose a glittery blue polish for her manicure, Barry M "V.I.P.":

Hello everybody, and happy Friday! Today's mama Bean collab features holographic nails. We have both gone for simple, one-colour manicures, so shall we have a look?

I chose China Glaze "IDK", a purple shade with the finest, most spectacular linear holographic finish. I applied two coats over Nfu.Oh Aqua Base, with no top coat:

And mama Bean went for a lovely pale blue linear holographic polish, Moyra No 254. She applied two coats over regular base coat and finished with top coat:

Do you love holographic nail polishes as much as we do? :)

Thanks for reading, and come back again soon x

Hello friends, i'm going to keep this week's mama Bean collaboration short and sweet as i'm not feeling very well. This week our theme is simply "Purple".

I chose to use a magnetic polish, Barry M "Magnetic Violet", which isn't the most purple that ever purpled, but it's purple enough!

And mama Bean used Nails Inc "Caversham Street"& Barry M "Diamond Glitter" for her purple manicure:

Seaside Nails with Anna & Mama Bean

Hello friends, and happy Friday (or whatever day it is when you come to read this)! Today's mama Bean collaboration theme is "Seaside". I've been looking forward to this ever since i decided on our themes - i even bought a stamping plate especially for this theme! Come on, let's go to the beach :D

I decided to utilise a textured polish to represent sand (which actually doesn't really show up in my photographs), and then did some cute seaside stamping over that. Products after the pictures!

Base: Nails Inc "Clerkenwell" Leather Effect;
Stamping: Models Own "Purple Grey"& MoYou London Sailor plate 07.

Ma had a completely different idea than me, she chose to represent the sea and sand using a blue and a gold polish, although i can't tell you which they are because i forgot to ask, doh!!

Before i go, i'd just like to talk about a cuticle oil which i received to review from Rainbow Connection. As you may or may not know, Rainbow Connection will be launching their own indie subscription box next month entitled "Paint The Rainbow", and one of the products which will be in the inaugural box is a hand blended, in-house cuticle oil. I LOVE IT!!! I have been neglecting my cuticles lately, and having only been using it for three days so far, i am already seeing results, most noticably on a patch of hard skin which blights my right index finger. My cuticles are softer, more nourished, and look far healthier than they have been lately. The texture of the oil is really nice. It's not runny, but it's also not really greasy our slick, and it absorbs into the skin really really quickly once you've massaged it in, so you can get on with your day without being Mrs Butterfingers! It comes in a really handy tube with a rollerball applicator, and is slimline and plastic, which means it's handbag friendly - bonus! I am really impressed, and i think you will be too :)

Thanks for reading, and come back again soon! :) x

Multicoloured Nails with Anna & Mama Bean

Hidelo ho, readerinos!! Got another fun collaboration with mama Bean for you this week - our theme is "multicoloured"! Shall we have a look? :D

I have created a pastel rainbow skittle manicure with some added faffage. I started by painting my nails in five different pastel shades, all from Nails Inc: Chelsea Manor Gardens, England's Lane, Oxford, Cornwall Road, and Sumner Place:

Then I added one coat of New Look Pure Colour "Multi":

And then, in order to cut the reflection off the glitters and thus bring out their colours, I applied one coat of a very very sheer, pale pink, Nails Inc "South Molton Street", and finished with top coat:

And as for mama Bean, well, she took the multicoloured theme and ran with it, applying a different colour on every single nail!

Thumbs:

We hope you have enjoyed this week's theme, and that you will join us again next week for another installment!

Thanks for reading :) x

Hiiii guuuuyyyysssss! :D Today mama Beam and i have some floral nails to show you!

I had a rough idea of what i was going to do for this theme for quite some time but it involved a lot of colours and effort and in the end i just couldn't be bothered with it all, so i went a little simpler and just did some stamping instead ^_^ Info after the pics!

Base colour: Binky London "Lavender";
Glitter: China Glaze "Fairy Dust" (obligatory, of course!);
Stamping: Apipila Super Plate B and a random generic white nail polish.

Mama Bean also chose to do some stamping, and what a wonderful job she's done! She used Collection Hot Looks "Candy Floss", Ciate "Cabaret", and MoYou London Pro plate 09 :)

Losing A Beloved Pet

Hello friends. I have something i'd like to write about which is entirely non nail related. If you are here only for the nails then please kindly click away and return another day.

You may or may not be aware that i am an animal lover - i value animals over most humans - and have shared my whole life with many pets, all of whom i love and have loved eternally. One of those is my beloved, precious border collie "Buster". Buster grew to the grand old age of fifteen, very nearly sixteen. A year or so ago he started showing signs of arthritis. It was during a visit to the vet for an entirely different issue, that we discovered it wasn't in his legs as we had thought, but in his spine, which in turn had a direct effect on the use of his legs. For so long he coped so very well with it and enjoyed life in spite of it. Yes, he was slower than he used to be and could no longer run up the stairs or go mad chasing balls, but he was happy, enjoyed his daily walks and gentle play sessions, and had a very healthy appetite. Suddenly however, over the past couple of days, Buster's condition deteriorated dramatically and rapidly, until on Tuesday, he finally found himself unable to use his hind legs - he couldn't stand up at all and was terribly distressed and exhausted. We arranged an appointment with the vet for Wednesday evening, and although i hoped beyond hope that there would be some instant, miracle cure, i had secretly resigned myself to the fact that this was probably the end for my best friend. Surely enough, while the vet did offer a suggestion of anti inflammatory injections and very strong painkillers, there was no guarantee they be of any benefit and would only be a temporary fix at very best. So we came to the wretched (for us humans at least) decision to end his suffering and put him to sleep. I simply could not put him through the indignity of being unable to be a proper dog, or to prolong his suffering for my own selfish needs. The vet administered the euthanasia drug while my mum and i held our darling boy and he slipped away quickly and very peacefully.

Whilst i know we made the right decision for Buster and he is now free to run again, free from pain and suffering, it has nevertheless come as a terrible, all too sudden punch in the heart for me and my family. Up until a few days ago Buster was trotting around the garden happily, enjoying the remnants of the summer with his 'brother' Saxon and now, in an instant, he is gone, and i can't even begin to reconcile myself with that fact.

Pets, to me, are as important, if not more important in a way, as human loved ones (family or otherwise) - after all, a pet will never ever argue or fall out with you, judge you, be jealous or spiteful or secretive or manipulative, it will never cheat you or cause you hurt, it just stands by your side as a constant companion, doing nothing but loving you for its entire life. My heart is broken and life without my best Bub is looking as bleak as bleak can be at the moment. I am griefstricken, bereft, completely empty without him. I know there are some people who will say "he was just a dog", "you can get a new one", or that he doesn't deserve to be mourned as much as a human should, but those to me are the words of someone who has clearly never experienced the true, pure love and devotion of a dog.

I am not looking for an outpouring of sympaty but if i ask one thing of you it's that you just take a moment to send some loves to my boy, wherever he may be now, and if you have pets, please let them know how much they are loved.

My soul mate, my best Bub, i love you so very, very much. You will live forever in my heart and in my dreams.

And we stood tall"

Colors By Llarowe Fall 2015 Swatches & Review

Hello friends. I'd like to start this post off by saying thank you, so very much, for all of your comments, messages, and sentiments following my previous blog post. I am far from over the loss of my precious Bubs, but I am getting there, slowly. I have been keeping myself busy, the result of which you can see here today - I have swatches of the Fall 2015 Collection from Colors By Llarowe to show you!

All the relevant info will be at the end of the post, so shall we take a look?

All swatches are shown with two coats of polish, with base and top coats, and all formulas are pretty much perfect - some of them are so pigmented they are easily one coaters, but I always apply two for consistency.

"Aubergine Dreams"

"Aubergine Dreams": Deep aubergine intense linear holo with pink and purple flash

"Lake Of The Pines"

"Lake Of The Pines": Deep pine green with blue undertones soft linear holo. The holo appears crazy strong in the bottle, but is far more subtle on the nail.

"Last Harvest"

"Last Harvest": Medium grass green intense linear holo

"Memories Of You"

"Memories Of You": Silver taupe scattered holo with lavender undertone and red shifting shimmer with glowing finish

"Mocha Grande"

"Mocha Grande": Deep chocolate brown intense linear holo with copper, gold and red shimmer

"Rain"

"Rain": Bright sea blue scattered holo with glowing finish

"Rare Orchid"

"Rare Orchid": Medium orchid pink scattered holo with subtle shimmer with glowing finish. This one has more of a purple undertone to it in reality, but my camera refused to pick that up.

"She's My Cherry Pie"

"She's My Cherry Pie": Deep plum brown intense linear holo with intense shimmer and pink to red flash

"The Fallen"

"The Fallen": Deep copper red jelly base with scattered holo, shifting flake and intense copper to red shimmer. This is the sheerest polish in the collection, two coats were sufficient for me but you may wish to apply three if necessary.

"Wine & Roses"

"Wine & Roses": Deep wine red intense linear holo

****************

What are your thoughts on this collection? Do you have a favourite? Do you even like autumn? It's my favourite season, so these are all winners for me, not least because of the wonderfully evocative names!

This collection will launch for pre-orders on the Llarowe website on Tuesday 15th September (12:00pm - 8:00pm MDT), but is available already on Rainbow Connection if you live in the UK (I don't know if all shades are in stock currently though).

Fun with Magnetic Polishes

Hey friends, remember me?! Sorry for no bloggy blogs lately. I just couldn't be bothered, until now, because i have what i think is quite a cool manicure to share with you! I used a whole host of different coloured magnetic polishes to create a blobby rainbow effect which i then magnetised through my top coat. Intrigued? Keep reading!

Rightyho then, I started by applying a base of a plain, fairly neutral magnetic polish: Nails Inc "Soho":

Then i blobbed a load of different coloured magnetic polishes onto a piece of make up sponge:

Which I then dabbed on to my nails:

And then, working on one nail at a time, i applied one layer of top coat and immediately used a patterned magnet (a star patterned one from a Barry M magnetic polish) to magnetise it, and repeated on all ten nails. As long as you do each nail individually - top coat then magnetise, on to the next nail top coat then magnetise, on to the next nail,  and so on - and don't dawdle, the magnet will work on the magnetic polish through the still-wet top coat! Here is the finished look:

As you can see, i had a bit of a placement/holding the magnet still FAIL on several nails but you can see where i was going with this and i still really like the outcome - it reminds me of tie-dye!

HJ Manicure Swatches & Review

Hello friends! Today I'd like to share some polishes from HJ Manicure, a luxurious nail care range created by model and session manicurist Helen J. All polishes from this brand are cruelty free, vegan friendly, and free from the "Big 5" (toulene, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, dibutyl phthalate, and camphor).

I have three shades to show you, so let's go! Read through to the end of this post for a treat (hint: discount code!), too :)

HJ Manicure "Caramel Latte"

"Caramel Latte" is a lovely medium, warm-toned camel nude shade, perfect for the office or if, like me, you just love a good neutral polish! Formula was very nicely pigmented, with a good consistency and very easy to apply. Swatches show two coats and top coat.

HJ Manicure "Sub Zero"

"Sub Zero" is a dark, moody, charcoal grey shade. Formula was slightly more fluid than "Caramel Latte" but still a breeze to apply. Swatches show to coats and top coat.

HJ Manicure "Midnight Sky"

"Midnight Sky" is a beautiful, slightly blackened blue shimmer with a slight purple undertone. No issues with the formula - easy to apply, good coverage. Swatches show two coats and top coat.

I am very impressed with all three of these polishes from HJ Manicure. They may not be ground-breaking in terms of shade or finish, but they are very good quality, easy to apply, classic basics for any nail polish addict's collection. Formulas are all very easy to work with, and while the brush stalk is quite long, I had no problems controlling it - application, as I have already said, was easy peasy lemon squeezy!

You can buy these shades along with many others from the HJ Manicure website - www.hjmanicure.com - and as a little treat for you dear readers I have a discount code which entitles you to 25% off your first order: quote code ANNA25 at check out (minimum order value of £15.00 applies; discount code valid until 30th November 2015).

Hi guys, longish time no blog! I have swatches of some lovely polishes from 'Ard As Nails to show you today, so shall we take a look?

'Ard As Nails "Oakey"

"Oakey" is an inky blue holographic jelly polish. Slightly sheer as one might expect, but builds well. My swatches show two thick coats with top coat.

'Ard As Nails "Maxi Baby"

"Maxi Baby" is a muted, slightly dirty peachy shade, not as bright as my swatches show (difficult colour to photograph!) and very elegant. Perfect creme formula, my swatches show two coats with top coat.

'Ard As Nails "Molly Girl"

"Molly Girl" is a dark, purple-toned brown shade, less purple than my swatches show (again, difficult to photograph). This is a perfect shade for this time of year. Another perfect creme formula, swatches show two coats with top coat.

'Ard As Nails "Emma"

"Emma" is a sheer duochrome topper with a pearly shimmer finish, the predominant colour being green, shifting through to a blue. I have chosen to apply two coats over a black base, but I encourage you to experiment (with this and the other three duochrome shades featured in this blog post), the possibilities are endless with this type of polish!

'Ard As Nails "Sarah"

"Sarah" is another duochrome topper, shifting from blue through to purple. Again, swatches show two coats over black.

'Ard As Nails "Vicky"

"Vicky" is a glass fleck duochrome topper, shifting from a coppery bronze colour through to green. Swatches show two coats over black.

'Ard As Nails "Fearne"

"Fearne" is also a glass fleck duochrome topper, shifting from pink through to a golden colour. Swatches show two coats over black.

All of these polishes and many more are available right now from 'Ard As Nails, and you can follow the 'Ard As Nails Facebook and Instagram pages to keep up to date!

Hello friends, today I have part two of my 'Ard As Nails swatch bonanza! Part one (which can be viewed by clicking here) contained polishes which are already available to buy, but part two is a preview of four beautiful new soon-to-be-released polishes! So shall we have a look?

'Ard As Nails "Winter Nights"

"Winter Nights" is a medium-dark grey with vivid holographic finish. Very well pigmented, easy to apply. Swatches show two coats with top coat.

'Ard As Nails "Lazy Afternoon"

"Lazt Afternoon" is a gorgeous deep, rich, rusty orangey red with holographic finish. As with many red holographic polishes, it was very difficult to photograph - the holographic nature of this polish is more evident in reality, and has a lovely twinkly quality. Formula was flawless, swatches show two coats with top coat.

'Ard As Nails "Dewy Morning"

"Dewy Morning" is a lovely gentle sage green with soft holographic finish. The holographic nature isn't as evident in reality as the other polishes in this post, but it is more evident than my swatches show - this was another difficult one to photograph! Formula again was perfect, my swatches show two coats with top coat.

'Ard As Nails "Evening Shimmer"

"Evening Shimmer" is a rich, milk chocolate brown shade with holographic finish. Another wonderful formula which was (forgive me for using this phrase, my most hated when it comes to nail polish!!) "like butter" to apply. Swatches show two coats with top coat.

These polishes will all be available to buy from 'Ard As Nails on Saturday 21st November. You can keep up to date with news and new releases on the 'Ard As Nails Facebook page and Instagram account.

Ever After "Back To Basics" Collaboration Collection

$

Heeeeeeyyyyyy everybodyyyyyy! Happy December! I have three very lovely polishes to show you today from a collaboration collection by Ever After and available exclusively from Rainbow Connection. Continue reading to the end to find out when they will available :)

Before we take a look at the swatches, i will mention the formula here, as all three are identical in formula and application: they are slightly sheer, but i think that lends itself well to the overall look of these colours. Swatches of all three show two coats on very long nails and as you can see, there is a slight hint of vnl but it isn't overly noticeable in reality. I personally wouldn't add a third coat, but you can of course wear as many or as few as you wish, depending on your desired effect.

Ever After "50 Shades"

"50 Shades" is a mid-to-pale grey linear holographic with silver flecks.  Swatches show two coats with top coat.

Ever After "Au Naturel"

"Au Naturel" is a pale, neutral-toned nude linear holographic with silver flecks. Swatches show two coats with top coat.

Ever After "Nudist"

"Nudist" is a pale, soft ballet pink linear holographic with silver flecks. Swatches show two coats with top coat.

These polishes will be available to buy exclusively from Rainbow Connection on Friday 4th December at 8:00pm GMT for £8.50 each.

Freckles Polish "The Friends Collection" Swatches & Review

$

Hey.... How you doin'? Today i have some swatches to share in the form of Freckles Polish "The Friends Collection", inspired by "Friends", the telly show. For me this is just too exciting, Friends is my absolute, all time, number one, top favourite telly series ever, so when I heard Julieann was creating a collection based on it, i nearly cried with joy. I have six shades from the collection to show you today, so let's do it!

Freckles Polish "Central Perk"

"Central Perk" is a deep forest green jelly with, as far as my eyes can tell, gold flecks and blue iridescent shimmer. Formula is typical of a polish of this variety, a little thicker due to the amount of bits in the base, but still very easy to apply. Swatches show two coats with top coat.

Freckles Polish "Paper, Snow, A Ghost"

"Paper, Snow, A Ghost" is a slightly off-white crelly with gold flecks and blue iridescent shimmer. The white base is very desnely pigmented making it easy to apply and achieve good coverage, yet still allowing the bits to show through. Swatches show two coats & top coat.

Freckles Polish"Miss Chanandler Bong"

"Miss Chanandler Bong" is a red jelly with gold flecks and blue iridescent shimmer. Formula was very easy to apply. Swatches show two coats with top coat.

Freckles Polish "I Wanna Quit The Gym"

"I Wanna Quit The Gym" is a creamy raspberry pink with that typical Freckles soft holo finish. Formula, as is always the case with Freckles Polish holos, is flawless. Swatches show two coats with top coat.

Freckles Polish "Holiday Armadillo"

"Holiday Armadillo" is a deep, rich, chocolate brown holographic. Another flawless formula, my swatches show two coats with top coat.

Freckles Polish "We Were On A Break"

"We Were On A Break" is a purple/indigo holographic. Formula, again, was perfection. Swatches show two coats with top coat. I must point out that this colour was exceptionally difficult to photograph accurately. I know every screen will display things differently, but on my tablet and my phone screen at least, this appears lighter and brighter than it is in reality, so please bear that in mind, as you should do so with every swatch you see online - digital displays can only go so far at representing the true nature of things :)

These shades and the rest of this collection will be available on Saturday 12th December from the Freckles Polish Etsy Store. You can also keep up to date with all the news on the Freckles Polish Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts.

Thanks for reading!

Fun Nails And A Change....

$

.... We'll mention the change first, shall we? If you follow me on the social media tings (links on the right hand side if you're looking at this in desktop view) this will come as no surprise to you, but for those who don't: I have had a drastic shortening and shape-change. I had been planning to do as such in the fairly near future as my claws had just about reached their limit, but in the end fate took over and did it for me - I first lost a thumb nail, and then my left index nail, so that was that. I lopped them all off as short as they will physically go. I was annoyed that it happened the way it did, with breakages forcing my hand, but i am really happy to be back in the nub club again. Not that i didn't love my claws, because i absolutely did, but sometimes you just need a change. I am also really pleased to be able to use my favourite nail stamper and all my stamping plates again - i had been restricted to a jumbo stamper and a very limited selection of plates for quite a while!

So, on to the fun nails! It's a simple manicure really: one coat of Polish Me Silly "Funfetti" over Revlon "Charming". Happy times! :)

And a cheeky shot in UV light:

I hope you like this manicure, because i do! How about nail length - speaking only about your own nails, do you like to keep to a consistent length and shape or do you chop and change like i do?

Thanks for reading, and come back again soon :) x

Lavender creme with hidden shimmer and delicate scattered holographic finish:

Hello again friends! If you remember, my previous blog post showcased some examples of the polishes you can create with Kandy Colors, a custom nail polish brand which allows you to choose pigments/finshes, make up a name, and receive the finished product in the mail. Well today i have a few more examples to show you, so let's get down to it!

This is a vibrant magenta with electric fuchsia shimmer. Two coats with top coat.

This is a sheer silver holographic with chunkier grey holographic glitter particles, of which i have applied two coats over a medium grey creme, and top coat.

This is a showstopping dark, 'old gold' coloured holographic glitter in a slightly tinted jelly base. Two coats with top coat.

As with the previous three Kandy Colors examples i showed you, these formulas were very nice to work with - easy application, good coverage, and good dry time.
