Stamping with Moyra

$

Hi friends! I recently treated myself to some Moyra stamping plates which arrived today, so i thought i'd share my first manicure using one of those plates, the Florality 1 Plate 06!

To start, i applied two coats of Barry M Speedy Quick Dry Nail Paint "Lap Of Honour":

Then, as i often do when i'm stamping over a pale colour, i applied one coat of China Glaze "Fairy Dust", because SPARKLES!:

And then, using Nails Inc "Duchess Street", i stamped a pretty, delicate floral image from Moyra Florality 1 Plate 06 on all nails, and finished with top coat:

Do you have any Moyra plates, and if so what do you think of them? I only have four so far but i'm really impressed with them, the images are crisp and pick up and transfer really nicely!

Hello little loves, how are you? Today i have five lovely polishes from Ard As Nails' upcoming "The Bookouture Girls" collection, let's have a look shall we? :)

"White Cliff Bay"

White Cliff Bay is a bluey turquoise shimmer with gentle linear holographic finish and slightly chunkier holographic sparkle. No issues with formula, easy to apply. Swatches show two coats with top coat.

"Dark Knight"

Dark Knight is a charcoal grey with gentle holographic finish. Richly pigmented formula, easy to apply. Swatches show two coats with top coat.

"Berry Barlow"

Berry Barlow is a beautiful deep, rich mulberry shade with a vibrant holographic finish. Formula is nicely pigmented and easy to apply. Swatches show two coats with top coat.

"Summer Flings And Dancing Dreams"

Summer Flings And Dancing Dreams is a vibrant fuchsia with a flash of blueish shimmer and the same holographic finish as White Cliff Bay. It photographs slightly more electric than it appears in reality. Formula was densely pigmented without being too thick. Swatches show two coats with top coat.

"Blissful Bookworm"

Blissful Bookworm is a deep, muted purple with vibrant holographic finish. This shade has a slightly jelly formula being a little sheerer than the others, but still easy to apply with good coverage. Swatches show two coats with top coat.

This collection will be available to buy from Ard As Nails on 26th February 2016. Be sure to give them a follow on Facebook and Instagram to keep up to date with news and new releases!

Freckles Polish Swatches & Review

Hello friends, long time no blog! If you follow me on either Facebook or Instagram, you will know that my darling dog Saxon passed away recently and it hit me very hard (harder than I have allowed anybody to realise), so I took a little break from my blog. I an still utterly heartbroken, but trying to get myself back to normal. I will be creating a special tribute blog post for Saxon at some point, when I feel able to remember him with happiness not grief, so please do keep a look out for that, whenever it may be.

In the meantime, I have some new Freckles Polish shades to show you! There are two new collections being released very soon, "The Best And Worst Of The 90s Collection", and "The Cremes Collection" , and I have two polishes from each of these collections to show you.

"Spice Up Your Life"

"Spice Up Your Life" is from the Best And Worst Of The 90s Collection. It is a medium reddish pink shimmer with a soft holographic finish. Formula was typical Freckles Polish perfection - well pigmented, not too thick, easy to apply. Swatches show two coats with top coat.

"Gel Pen Collection"

"Gel Pen Collection" is also from the Best And Worst Of The 90s Collection. It is a medium lilac/purple shimmer with soft holographic finish. Again, the formula was wonderful, and my swatches show two easy coats with top coat.

"Banana Milkshake"

"Banana Milkshake" is from the Cremes Collection. It is a pale, soft pastel yellow creme which matches its name perfectly. Formula and consistency are excellent, especially considering what we are talking about here - a pale yellow pastel creme. They are usually the stuff of nightmares, but this is such a pleasant surprise. It is pigmented enough to cover well with two coats, and it isn't chalky. It has a formula somewhat akin to the Barry M Gelly Nail Paints, but not quite as 'plastic'-like. Swatches show two coats with top coat.

"Minty Fresh"

"Minty Fresh" is also from the Cremes Collection. As the name would suggest, it is a pale, minty green creme. Again, formula was wonderful. Swatches show two easy, problem-free coats with top coat. I shouldn't pick favourites but I can't help it, I am going to be buying a full-sized bottle of this beaut!

What are your thoughts on these shades? One thing worth mentioning is that the Cremes Collection will be added to over time with seasonally appropriate shades.

All these polishes and the rest of their collections will be available to buy from the Freckles Polish Etsy Store from Saturday 26th March 2016 onwards. You can also keep up to date with new releases, swatches etc. on the social tings: Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Box Polish Swatches & Review

Hello friends, how are you? I have some lovely 5-free, artisan nail lacquers from Box Polish to show you today. These four polishes are all super sparkly holographic glitters with space-themed names (which i love, i have always had a fascination for astronomy).

As the formula in all four is identical, i will talk about that at the end of the post.

Let's look! All swatches show two coats of polish with one coat of thick top coat.

Box Polish "Orion"

"Orion" is a predominantly gold glitter polish, consisting of chunky pale gold holographic glitter and finer holographic glitter dust.

Box Polish "Falcon 9"

"Falcon 9" consists of chunky silver holographic glitter and fine holographic glitter dust.

Box Polish "Neptune"

"Neptune" consists of chunky holographic turquoise glitter with fine silver holographic glitter dust. This was difficult to capture accurately - it is more turquoise in reality.

Box Polish "Rosetta"

"Rosetta" consists of chunky purple holographic glitter with fine holographic glitter dust.

As i said towards the beginning of this post, the formula is identical in all four shades. They provide full coverage with two average thickness coats, application is easy thanks to the flat brush and densiy of glitters, and dry time is good. They dry to a slightly textured finish, so a good quality, thick top coat will be required to smooth them out, or you could forego top coat entirely if you want to achieve a textured look!

These four polishes are available right now from Box Polish: www.boxrange.co.uk

Hello friends! Today's blog post is also brought to you by Paint The Rainbow, the UK's first indie nail box! Curated by the folks at Rainbow Connection, the UK's leading stockist of international indie polishes, and exclusively available from http://www.painttherainbowuk.bigcartel.com featuring some of your favourite brands!
Previously the Paint The Rainbow boxes contained five polishes, but starting from this, the April box, they will contain four polishes, and the price has reduced accordingly. This month's theme is "Spring Flowers", which delights me muchly, so let's have a look!

'Ard As Nails "Batchelor's Button"

"Batchelor's Button"is an inkyblue holographic with a slightly jelly finish. Application was easy and dry time was good. Swatches show two coats with top coat, though you may wish to apply a third coat to banish any visible nail line.

Lilypad Lacquer "Peacock Flower"

"Peacock Flower"is a greyish silver holographic with multicoloured chunkier glitters. It is very sparkly in reality! Formula and application were without issues. Swatches show two coats and top coat.

Colors By Llarowe "Cherry Blossoms"

"Cherry Blossoms" is a soft, warm-toned dusky pink with soft linear holographic finish. Formula seemed a little weak in pigmentation on the first coat, but the second coat evened things out perfectly. Swatches show two coats and top coat.

Fair Maiden Polish "Wild & Free"

"Wild & Free" is a rather complex but very pretty shade, it is predominantly a greenish grey/greyish green shimmer with soft linear holographic finish. It also shifts to a stronger green at an oblique angle and has the added aspect of pink flecks which shift to gold at a very oblique angle. I tried my very hardest to capture all aspects of this shade, but it really is one which needs to be seen in real life to be appreciated" Formula was problem-free. My swatches show two coats with top coat.

This April "Spring Flowers" themed Paint The Rainbow box will be available from 2:00pm on Wednesday the 20th April 2016, from http://www.painttherainbowuk.bigcartel.com, for £36.00 & shipping.

Hello dearlings, how are you today? I have a new, soon-to-be-released collection from 'Ard As Nails to show you today. This collection is named The Safari Collection, and as you might have guessed, the colours and names are inspired by all things safari!

There are four shades on offer, so let's have a look! All the relevant info will be at the bottom of this post :)

'Ard As Nails "Park Ranger"

"Park Ranger" is a lovely khaki green creme with soft holographic finish. Formula is excellent, well-pigmented, easy to apply. Swatches show two coats with top coat.

'Ard As Nails "Golden Sunset"

"Golden Sunset" is a juicy, vibrant, warm orange shimmer with soft holographic finish. Same lovely formula as "Park Ranger", swatches show two coats with top coat.

'Ard As Nails "Chameleon"

"Chameleon" is a chartreuse which really lives up to its name, it seems to take on a different hue depending on the light, sometimes appearing more yellow, and other times more green. The formula is slightly less densely pigmented in this than the others in the collection, with a slightly more pronounced holographic finish. Swatches show two coats with top coat.

'Ard As Nails "Cape Sky"

"Cape Sky" is a plain and simple but very beautiful black creme with holographic finish. Wonderful formula, densely pigmented, easy to apply. Swatches show two coats with top coat.

What do you think about this collection? I really love the inspiration behind it, and it is set apart from the usual pastels which abound at this time of year.

Colors by Llarowe Summer 2016 Swatches & Review

$

Hey friends! I have a treat for you today, the entire Summer 2016 collection from Colors by Llarowe! There are 16 shades in all: 12 in the main set; and 4 in a smaller cremes, jellies, and shimmers sub set. I was going to separate them into two posts, but although grouping them all together will make for a very long, picture-heavy post, I think it just makes more sense to do one.

So get yourself a cup of tea (or whatever your preferred imbibement is!), and let's dive right in!

All the necessary purchase details at the end of this post.

Main Collection

"Ahoy Matey!"

"Ahoy Matey! is complicated. It's the color of the ocean - sometimes aqua blue, sometimes green, full of color-shifting shimmer that shifts from violet to copper to gold.  Use top coat to bring out this gorgeous shimmer." This shade, as you can see, is fairly sheer, but application was unproblematic and dry time was good. Swatches show two coats with top coat.

"Annie Get Your Gun"

"This polish is incredibly hard to describe.  A continuously changing color scheme that includes shades of blue, green, gunmetal grey, purple with an added pink to purple to lavender sheen.  Tightly scattered glowing holographic with arcs of green, yellow, gold, turquoise and purple.  Staring at your nails may cause hazardous conditions!". Formula was (and forgive me for using this phrase, I hate it) like butter: so richly pigmented and easy to apply! Easily a one-coater, but my swatches show two coats with top coat.

"Bam!"

"A Persian green intense linear holo with turquoise flame.". This shade is not exceptionally densely pigmented, it has a bit of a holo jelly feel to it. Application was easy though and dried quickly. My swatches show two coats with top coat.

"Fire Down Below"

"A nude ivory scattered holo packed with shimmer that shifts from copper to gold to red.. This polish looks lit from within.". No issues with either formula or application -nicely pigmented, easy to apply. Swatches show two coats with top coat.

"Fire To The Rain"

"Fire to the Rain is a bright cool-toned candy apple red crelly that's squishy like a jelly and loaded with shimmer. ". As this is a crelly leaning towards jelly, it is fairly sheer, but necessarily so in order for the shimmery bits to peek through. Swatches show two coats with top coat.

"Lisa's Revenge"

"A bright royal blue crelly that's squishy like a jelly and loaded with shimmer. ", this had the exact same formula and finish as "Fire To The Rain" - sheer, squishy, jelly loveliness. Swatches show two coats with top coat.

"Pool Partay!"

"A pool water blue/green intense linear holo jelly with cool and light turquoise flashes.", this was fairly sheer, being a jelly holo. Application was unproblematic, but I did need three coats to banish any VNL - you may find two to be sufficient depending on your nail length/level of tolerance for VNL. Swatches, as mentioned, show three coats with top coat.

"Prissy Lil Thang!"

"A rosy pink intense linear holo with lavender flame.  Put on those sunglasses before you go outside!". Not intensely richly pigmented but no issues with formula or application. Swatches show two coats with top coat, and depending on your monitor, may appear slightly more cool-toned than it is in reality.

"Rendered Speechless"

"A milky bright minty green packed with shimmer that shifts from copper to gold to pink.". Lovely creme-based formula which is slightly chalky but nonetheless easy to apply and smooths out nicely. Swatches show two coats with top coat.

"Shiny Happy People"

"A periwinkle blue with purple sheen scattered holo with intense shimmer that shifts pink to copper to green.  This polish glows and is a true chameleon!". Slightly jelly feel to the formula but lots of shimmer packed in to ramp up the coverage. Easy to apply. Swatches show two coats with top coat.

"Stars At Night"

"A grape purple crelly packed with shimmer.  Add top coat for a squishy jelly finish.", same formula and finish as "Fire To The Rain" and "Lisa's Revenge", but deeper coloured base gives more coverage. Swatches show to coats with top coat.

"Summer Lovin'"

"A hot pink jelly holo with holo flakes and iridescent micro shimmer.", application was easy. At first this seems like a top coat guzzler - when I top coated, it sucked it straight in and looked all gritty - but I am pleased to say after a minute or two it smooths out completely. Swatches show two coats with top coat.

****************

Cremes, Jellies, & Shimmers Sub Set

"Creme Of The Crop"

"Medium sea green crelly.  Dries semi matte.", very nice formula for a crelly, nicely pigmented, easy to apply. Swatches show two coats with top coat.

"Hot Summer Nights"

"Blackened burgundy creme base with intense red shimmer.  Use top coat to bring out this gorgeous shimmer.  Looks amazing with that summer tan!", very richly pigmented, smooth formula which is a joy apply. A careful one-coater, but my swatches show two coats with top coat.

"Lotus"

"Bright orchid pink crelly with intense gold and pink shimmer.  This polish glows!". Nicely pigmented, smooth formula. Minimal VNL on my long skanky nails but not enough to warrant an extra coat. Swatches show two coats with top coat.

"Love Me Some Blurple!"

"Medium to dark purple toned blue squishy crelly", another really nice formula for a jelly-leaning crelly, nicely pigmented, smooth, easy to apply. Swatches show two coats with top coat.

And there we have it, sixteen fun, gorgeous summer colours! Which are calling out to you? I love the holos of course, but the jellies are also really beguiling to me!

This collection will be available to pre-order from Llarowe on the 26th May from 12pm - 8pm MST, or if you live in the UK you can order them right now from Rainbow Connection, stock permitting.

Thanks for reading! :) x

Taking A Break

Hello friends. This is just a short and sweet blog post by way of an overdue explanation. Due to many reasons, none of which i will go into detail about, i have decided to take a break from my blog, and from all official swatching/PR duties. I don't know for how long this will continue, but i do hope at the very least to start blogging again one day (not so sure about swatching & PR, i am enjoying not having the stress of that crushing me completely, because it is stressful and it is most certainly not easy).

In the meantime, i still paint my nails on the very regular for my own enjoyment (which was how this blog was born), you can follow me on Instagram - http://www.instagram.com/annabean1983 - if you would like to continue to get a daily dose of AnnaBean's Nails (and a fuck tonne of other stuff too!), and there is always my Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/Anna-Beans-Nails-145316025633555 - which is purely nailcentric (for those who don't want to see my cats/nature/wildlife photography).

Thanks for reading, and for sticking around. I'll see you again soon I hope!

Love, Anna x

P.S. Here's what's on my nails currently - Nails Inc "Eaton Terrace" :)
